Debate Aside, Number of Drone Strikes Drops Sharply – NYTimes.com

Why?  The sub-heading in print version of the NYT explained that drone’s “success” and effective “diplomacy” are to thank.  Indeed, drone strikes are becoming the sin qua non of military strategy–and should be contrasted with the need for increased diplomacy, especially in the Islamic world.

“Globally these operations are hated,” said Micah Zenko, a scholar at the Council on Foreign Relations who wrote a major study of targeted killing this year. “It’s the face of American foreign policy, and it’s an ugly face.”
