In case you are worried that diplomacy is all teeny tiny appetizers and fancy cravats–its also lots o’ fun:
A UN spokesman tells the Swiss News Agency that Libya submitted a proposal to the General Assembly calling for the dissolution of Switzerland last month. The proposal was never accepted or circulated because the U.N. Charter prohibits countries from threatening the existance of other member states.

That’s almost as good as Qaddafi’s alleged videoconference at Georgetown U where he noted:
- Israeli’s and Palestinians should live in a united state called “Isratine.”
- “I think Osama bin Laden is a person who can be given a chance…Maybe he wants peace.”
- “If you want to preserve this group, the Jews as an ethnic group, Palestine is not really the right place. The Middle East is a sea of Arabs…Take them to Alaska or Honolulu or the Hawaiian islands or the Pacific islands and they can live peacefully in an isolated setting.”
Euro diplos appear to have kept the view according to CS Monitor that Qaddafi is a “serial human rights violator and 1970s-style Arab dictator.”
What a nutcase! Thank goodness there are SANE people in the UN to counterbalance the loonies like him. It’s amazing to me that people who think like Qaddafi can assume such power. Can you imagine what the world would be like if all the Qaddafis out there weren’t kept in check? For all the people who gripe about corruption in the UN, maybe they should read this article and recognize the corruption that the UN actually reigns in!

Herbert Hoover once commented, “It is a paradox that every dictator has climbed to power on the ladder of free speech. Immediately on attaining power each dictator has suppressed all free speech except his own.” Qaddafi may want to start suppressing his own.
All i have to say is LOL! It is amazing that people like that become leaders of nations, but its not much surprise because it has happened in the past when nations become desperate. Post WWI Germany is the best example, the reparations and punishment they suffered led to them handing there country over to a paranoid egotistical man who, to his credit did a ton of good in Germany (rebuilding the infrastructure, giving the country a sense of unity, bringing the military and economy back to the world elite,etc) before he jumped off the deep end.
